Discover Italy with New Hampshire PBS and the Currier Museum of Art

NHPBS is joining forces with the Currier Museum of Art for a tour of Florence, Milan and the Tuscan countryside, led by Senior Museum Curator Dr. Kurt Sundstrom and inspired by the extraordinary genius of Leonardo da Vinci.

Where You’ll Be going

You’ll begin in the timeless city of Florence, visiting sites including the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio – a medieval bridge still bustling with shops and activity today.

Travelers will also enjoy excursions to the countryside and small villages including the scenic Vinci, birthplace of Leonardo, and Pisa, home to the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.

In Milan, you’ll visit Sforza Castle and see work by both Leonardo and Michelangelo. “No artist has been able to do as well as they have,” effuses Dr. Sundstrom. “Their skill and vision are beyond compare. You look at a da Vinci and you can’t stop looking at it. “

Meet Your Host

Dr. Sundstrom will be on hand to connect each day’s journeys back to the remarkable life and work of Leonardo da Vinci and his contemporaries.

Italy is a favorite destination for Sundstrom. “I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been to Italy, at least twenty times, with many family trips,” he shares. “I also studied for two semesters in Italy.” Even if it’s familiar, Italy retains a certain magic.  “It’s always special to walk where Leonardo walked.”
